1989 VW Vanagon Syncro Adventurewagon TDI for sale
bought the van form the original owner in 2013, who purchased it new from Ed Anderson of Adventurewagon in Fort Brag, CA, back in 1989. When I bought it, it had lived its whole life in the SF Bay Area, had been garaged,
The factory paint is all original, no rust anywhere on the vehicle. With no accident history. The body has around 160k original miles on it.
The interior is excellent as well. The seat upholstery is supple and firm with no tears or wear marks, as are the door panels, headliner and carpet. The original Adventurewagon teak cabinetry and trim is likewise in excellent shape. The van has a nice Alpine stereo/CD player, which is Bluetooth and USB compatible.

There is also a sink cabinet with a stainless steel sink and water tank, and gray water holding tank. The stove and fridge cabinet . This cabinet is included with the van, in case one wants to reinstall it. The van has its original propane tank and plumbing. Go Westy makes and upgraded, modern propane tank kit which is recommended to replace the old one.

Matt Garner Metal Works in Idaho completed the following work on the van, approximately two years ago:
Complete, electronic TDI conversion done, using the engine from a 2002 Jetta TDI sedan with 115k miles on it. This is the highest quality, TDI conversion. The features are too numerous to list here. The build sheet for this conversion, which itemizes every part involved, is seven pages long. A few highlights – completely rebuilt transaxle by German Transaxle of Bend, Oregon, a new heavy duty clutch and pressure plate, upgraded turbo with custom inter-cooler, gages for turbo boost, exhaust gas temperature, oil temp, oil pressure, water temperature. Cruse control, and a fully functioning OBD II port for the TDI computer.

I typically get 30 mpg on the road unloaded, and 24 mpg fully loaded. Runs excellent on regular Diesel or Biodiesel.
This TDI Vanagon is legally registered in CA as a diesel vehicle, with no smog inspection required.
I purchased the van for $20k, invested $47k in the TDI conversion and the other upgrades listed above, and have approximately another $10k invested in it for work and additional improvements done my local automotive specialists.
Given this information, We'll consider a reasonable offer.
